About Doomsday Kit

Doomsday Kit is a free guide to getting your family ready for long power and internet outages. Plain words, short answers first, and only the things that genuinely help.

Why it exists

Outages are lasting longer as storms get stronger and electricity demand grows faster than new supply. Grid regulators say so openly (see the news, with sources). Most preparedness advice is either too vague or tries to sell you fear. We wanted one calm place that says exactly what to get, why, and how to set it up.

How we choose products

• Every item has to solve a real problem in an outage: light, power, water, food, warmth, sanitation, health, safety or information.
• We prefer well-known brands with long track records and simple operation.
• We check every product on Amazon before listing it and re-check the whole catalogue before every update. If a product goes out of stock, we replace it.

How we write guides

Each guide starts with a direct answer, then the details. Numbers come from public sources such as Ready.gov, CDC, FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC, NOAA and grid regulators, and we link to every one. Guides show the date they were last updated.
